Weatherization Assistance Program

Restoration’s Weatherization Program (WAP) is one of the longest standing and most successful programs of its kind in New York City, with a record of serving over 10,000 low-income households.

Retrofitting for the Future

Our services provide energy conservation to low income households, moderate income households, religious institutions, municipal buildings, and small businesses.

The program helps both landlords and tenants to conserve energy, save money, and improve health and safety conditions.

Supported by the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal, the goal of the program is to reduce energy costs and improve quality of life for low-income residents. Services include installation of new windows, insulation, upgrade of heating systems, and the use of energy efficient appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, power-strips and LED bulbs.

By “weatherizing” hundreds of housing units each year, these measures deliver ongoing energy efficiency and savings leading to millions of dollars of impact on an annual basis.

The measures the Weatherization team employs to improve the value and liveability of your residence include, but are not limited to, the following:

● New Replacement Windows.
● New Energy Efficient Refrigerators (based on age and efficiency of current units).
● New LED Light Bulbs.
● Ventilation system improvements (baths & kitchens).
● New showerheads.
● New smoke and carbon dioxide detectors.

What We Do

What You'll Need to Qualify

Here’s All You Need To Qualify:

1. NYS Requires Each Unit Tenant Provide Proof of Income Eligibility.

2. Each Unit Tenant Must Complete an Application.

3. A Few Pieces of Documentation Accompany Each Application Submitted (Bank Statements, SSN, Utility Bills, etc.)

4. Check the Income Threshold to see if your household qualifies here.
