May is National Bike Month!
Thursday, May 11, 2017
In celebration of May’s National Bike Month, we are doing our part to highlight biking in our community - and just to remind you May 15-19th is Bike to Work Week, and May 19th, is Bike to Work Day!
May got off to a great start with our twice a week rides. May 3rd CORE Services lead a ride over the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges, on Saturday, May 6th the Brooklyn Health Action Center led a ride to Coney Island and on Wednesday, May 10th, our very own Jobs Plus led the community ride from the Jobs Plus site to Restoration Plaza. If you've been on these rides, you know how much fun it is!
If you haven't joined us yet, our rides hosted by community partners and local residents are scheduled through October, every Wednesday at 6pm and every Saturday at 11am - or if you need a refresher you can also take part in a series of free Bike Safety and Street Skills Classes. More information about rides, routes and classes can be found here.
As you can see, there are lots of great opportunities, so don't forget to invite your family and friends to join the fun as well! This is an opportunity to get a jump start on you summer riding, to get your daily exercise in, save some money by signing up for an annual Citi Bike membership, or if you haven't already, by using Bed-Stuy Restoration’s or our Partner's services to gain a significant discounted annual membership.
And just in case you think this is something new, The National Bike Month recognition was established in 1956, by the League of American Bicyclists and celebrated in communities across the country. So #ProveYourMove and show off all the benefits of biking. If you haven’t tried it, Now Is The Time – Give It A Try!!!
