2021 Breakthrough Technology Fellowship: Demo Day
Join us on April 26, 2021 to hear from our 20 Breakthrough Fellows as they present their civic tech capstone projects at the Marcy Lab School!
Breakthrough Demo Day will honor and celebrate our Fellows' growth, hard work, and the incredible community that they've built. It's also an opportunity to showcase the civic tech capstone projects to a larger audience and receive feedback from tech community leaders like you!
The Breakthrough Technology Fellowship is a new program from the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation in partnership with the Marcy Lab School designed to help underemployed college and technical training program graduates transition into full-time employment as software engineers. We equip Fellows with the technical and leadership skills, portfolios, and professional networks they need to land their first jobs and go on to excel on a path to promotion within their companies.
Our current class consists of 20 high-performing Fellows who have taken the initiative to seek out an alternative pathway to a career in software engineering. They come from diverse backgrounds, but they all share grit, work ethic, and a passion for tech.
During Demo Day, you will be able to:
- Hear the incredible stories and backgrounds of Breakthrough Fellows
- Find out more about the Marcy Lab School mission and program outcomes
- Learn more about Restoration's commitment to disrupting and closing the racial wealth gap from President and Chief Executive Officer Colvin W. Grannum
- Watch civic tech project presentations and demos from Breakthrough Fellows
Demo Day will run from 5-6pm ET on April 26th. Following the event, we will also host a 30-minute networking and small group Q&A session. Any attendees interested in connecting Fellows with potential hiring opportunities will have a chance to learn more about their backgrounds, projects, and experience.
