Who We Are

All For One is a collaborative partnership, spearheaded by three innovative Community Development Corporations (CDC); Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, Bridge Street Development Corporation, and IMPACCT Brooklyn. This collaboration is the extension of deep relationships between neighborhood partners, each with extensive assets, investments and community reach throughout Bedford-Stuyvesant and in the two proposed census tracts.

What We Do

The Collaborative actively leverages the successes of its high-capacity partners into demonstrable reductions in poverty at the household and/or community level, over time. While these and other organizations have successfully provided much-needed services in the area, often efforts have been ‘siloed’ and not connected to an overall plan to create community-level change. The Collaborative builds on the partners’ collective capacity and intervenes in the ‘silo effect’ by using data to better target high-needs households, identify service delivery gaps, implement and maintain standardized data to cross-sell services and track results to inform programmatic decision making.

Where

The initial target area is two census tracts in Northern Bedford Stuyvesant that represent some of the highest poverty rates and lowest educational attainment rates in the city.

Our Goal

Our goal is to implement a coordinated, comprehensive approach to service delivery at a level indicative of community saturation. Through a series of events, the All For One collaborative is providing service interventions in five core areas. These areas are Youth, Workforce Development, Financial Stability, Mental & Physical Health and Housing Stability. Our long term (3 -5 years) social impacts are anticipated to be:

  • Increased upward mobility of those in poverty
  • Increased employment rate and reduced long term reliance on public benefits
  • Increased financial independence and financial management
  • Increased household and housing stability and reduction in homelessness.
  • Increasingly positive indicators of health and family strength.

Median Household Income averages just $24k against a New York City average of $ 50,711 and Bed-Stuy average of $36,528

The Collaborative conducted at Comprehensive Survey in 2015 which revealed:

  • 69.9% of respondents are Unbanked (national average of around 7%)
  • 25% indicate high levels of Depression (national average of 4%)
  • 47% indicate housing instability living with friends or in a home not owned or rented by them
  • 20% have never held a job in the formal economy for more than a year

Some of Our Proposed Activities

How You Can Help

Our neighborhood partners are critical to the success of the initiative. You and your organization can help by:

  • Working collaboratively with us and providing concrete feedback on our efforts
  • Spreading the word about this initiative amongst your provider peers and within the community you serve, including mobilizing the community in participatory research, supporting public events and community engagement efforts
  • Connecting the initiative to available resources whether it is a particular partnership that will support the project, securing additional funding or helping us source neighborhood data and metrics

Together we can work to build strong and stable communities within Bedford-Stuyvesant!

Removing barriers to financial stability and self-sufficiency, Restoration's Economic Solutions Center provides integrated services including financial literacy workshops and one-on-one financial counseling to help thousands of households reduce debt, improve credit, and save for the future. In today's challenging economic environment, can you afford not to get the help you need?

Weekly Financial Literacy Workshops: Restoration partners with leaders in the financial sector to present the Wealth Building Tuesdays series, equipping individuals with information necessary to make sound decisions about their financial future. Topics included personal finance and money management, credit maintenance, savings for education and retirement, debt reduction and investment strategies. In addition to representatives from leading banks such as JPMorgan Chase, HSBC, Capital One, and Bank of America, presenters have included Credit Where Credit is Due and Workshop in Business Opportunities (WIBO).

One-on-One financial counseling: For those needing more intensive one-on-one support, the Economic Solutions Center provides private counseling, helping thousands of Brooklynites each year manage credit, reduce debt, increase savings and access critical banking services. There are no income limitations and conversations with our counselors are entirely free and confidential. Headquartered at Restoration Plaza, Restoration also operates mobile financial empowerment sites in Brownsville, downtown Brooklyn, Cypress Hills and Bushwick.

Tax Preparation Assistance: Did you know a major untapped source of cash for low-income families is the Earned Income Tax Credit? Some 35,000 individuals in Bedford Stuyvesant are eligible for EITC while only roughly 25% actually claimed these returns. Restoration is committed to increasing access to this major resource and partners to provide free tax preparation assistance at Restoration Plaza for income eligible individuals. Stop by 1406 Fulton Street and speak to our customer service desk or for additional information call (718) 636-6994.
