Second Annual Bedford-Stuyvesant Food and Family Day

The Second Annual Bedford-Stuyvesant Food and Family Day, held on Saturday, October 13th at Restoration Plaza, sponsored by the Coalition for the Improvement of Bedford Stuyvesant and the Brooklyn Community Foundation was a free hands-on all ages event and resource fair and included topics on: How To Eat And Cook Healthy On A Family Budget; A Tour Of Local Farmers’ Markets And Green Grocers; Basic Gardening And Composting Tips; How To Become A Bed-Stuy Healthy Food Advocate; How To Cook Fresh, Organic Baby Foods; Kids Activities Including: Gardening, Fun Exercise And Art Projects; Yoga and Zumba Demonstrations; and Free Heath and EBT/WIC Screenings. Additionally this year, the event recognized local food heroes, individuals nominated by the community. The event attended by hundreds of people was a huge success and part of continued programming by CIBS and its partners to make Bed-Stuy a healthier and more thriving community.
