At a crowded ceremony with over 300 guests at the New York Public Library on Tuesday, November 16th, Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation (Restoration) was named one of two organizations to receive the coveted Bank of America Neighborhood Builders Award. Restoration was recognized for its commitment to community development in Central Brooklyn. Presenting the award to Restoration’s President Colvin W. Grannum was Jeff Barker, New York City president, Bank of America.

Restoration's Tremayne Rollins named Audelco Rising Star

The Youth Arts Academy is proud, once again to have one of their students, Tremayne Rollins, receive the Audelco Rising Star Award. The Audelco Awards celebrate outstanding achievements in the American Theatre recognizing artists from African diaspora and beyond for their work on stage and behind the scenes. Tremayne ‘s ascension began at YAA and he is well on his way in show business. His list of credits continue to growth as a result of his training and performance opportunities at YAA.

Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation hosted its 29th Annual 10K Community Run and Fun Walk on Sunday, October 10th, 2010. The event was a great accomplishment with some 650 runners and walkers making it one of the most successful 10Ks in Restoration’s recent history. New to this year’s event, some 70 children aged 2-8 years old took part in Restoration’s First Annual Kiddie Run. All youth received medals commemorating their participation.

Towns addressed questions and concerns from the audience on Federal policies effecting businesses and gave a brief overview of the Nation's efforts to improve the economy.

Are you planning a cultural event in Brooklyn taking place between February 28 and May 31, 2010 that features African American, Afro Caribbean and African-based art forms and artists? BAC would like to know about it for a project we're launching called Black Brooklyn Renaissance. We're creating a print and online calendar of events that will not only include Black Brooklyn Renaissance programs produced by BAC, but also related events happening throughout the borough.
